Since 2017, Bugiri District Farmers Association has partnered with VI to address climate change through environmental conservation and restoration activities.
The partnership supports the restoration of degraded land in forest reserves and on household farms. Farmers are encouraged to adopt practices that promote tree regeneration, protect natural resources, and reduce pressure on tree populations.
The initiative has also promoted the use of wood-saving stoves to reduce the demand for firewood and support environmental protection.
Under the WESLAM Project, the VI agroforestry team has conducted monitoring activities at a tree nursery bed in Iwemba Sub-county. These activities contribute to sustainable land management, climate change mitigation, and improved community livelihoods.
